Jing, Chi and Shen represent the three treasures (san bao) of chinese medicine and philosophy. Various meanings and translations are attached to these terms but the closest (and easier to understand) are:
- Jing
精 (physical essence, seed or energy) - Chi or Qi
氣 (internal energy, vitality) - Shen
神 (mind, spirit or soul). Practice of Tai Chi leads to a balance between the three
forms of energy. Conceptually, the three treasures are interconnected
through the transformation of our energy into pure spirit. They also
represent the completeness of this dynamic, powerful and holistic art
bringing together health, meditation and martial aspects. |
